Frequently Asked Questions
What is a keepsake ultrasound?
A keepsake ultrasound is a wonderful way to bond with your unborn baby. Some families will come to Wonderfully Made to see and hear their baby's heartbeat, determine gender (as early as 16 weeks), for a "sneak peek" into what their baby will look like, and to see what their baby is up to in the womb.Does a 3D/4D ultrasound take the place of an ultrasound with my doctor?
ABSOLUTELY NOT! A routine examination must have already been performed by your OB/GYN prior to having an ultrasound at our facility. Our ultrasounds do not look for abnormalities and it is important to be seen by a doctor before getting a 3D or 4D ultrasound. What is an elective ultrasound?
An elective complete limited diagnostic ultrasound is a voluntary service that is not covered by health insurance that gives limited diagnostic information such as number of babies, placental location, position of the baby, and heart beat confirmation. 3D/4D ultrasounds can be used in addition to, but never in place of, diagnostic prenatal ultrasounds done by a medical provider. When is the recommended timeframe for a gender reveal?
For best accuracy, our sonographers recommend 18+ weeks for gender determination, although you may schedule as early as 16 weeks. What are the requirements before scheduling my elective 3D/4D ultrasound?
Women seeking an elective prenatal ultrasound with Wonderfully Made must already be receiving treatment from a healthcare provider for prenatal care. We will require your OB/GYN's name and contact information. Please note, at no time is this exam to be used in place of a complete diagnostic ultrasound with your personal physician. How is this experience different than the one I receive from my doctor?
Many women have a diagnostic ultrasound performed at 18-20 weeks. In most cases, your doctor or sonographer will use 2D ultrasound to determine important information such as fetal age and to screen for any abnormalities. All of this information is very important! We want your experience with Wonderfully Made to focus more on bonding with your unborn baby and celebrating the miracle of motherhood. We strive to provide a friendly, welcoming, relaxed environment that will leave you with wonderful memories. We schedule all of our bookings in timed intervals adequate enough to provide a lengthy, unhurried session, as well as allowing time to perform certain "tricks" in order to try to wake baby up or to get baby to change position. Is 3D/4D ultrasound safe for my baby and me?
Extensive studies over the last 30 years have found that ultrasound has not been shown to cause any harm to mother or baby. Routine scanning of all pregnancies is normal throughout the United States. 3D/4D scanning is exactly the same type and intensity of ultrasound that is utilized with conventional 2D scanning done at your doctor's office. 3D and 4D Ultrasounds both use sound waves similar to radar to look inside a body. A probe placed on the body emits sound waves into the body, listens for the return echo and generates an image. 4D ultrasound will be similar to a conventional scan done at your OB/GYN's office, in terms of exposure. What ultrasound equipment do you use?
Wonderfully Made uses state-of-the-art technology – the Mindray DC-40. Please note, many centers claim to use "state-of-the-art" equipment, when in fact they use older, inferior technology or do software upgrades for 4D configuration. This compromises the quality of images. Unquestionably, it's the machine that makes the biggest difference in 4D technology.Do I need an appointment?
Yes, appointments are necessary for all of our ultrasound services. Please call us at 912.200.5284 or email wonderfullymadeultrasounds@gmail.com to schedule your appointment. How long will it take for my 3D/4D ultrasound?
Depending on the package you choose, the session will last between 15 and 30 minutes. However, we require 10 minutes for registration/eligibility and 10 minutes after the scan for printing pictures. Please plan accordingly. How far along should I be for my 3D/4D ultrasound?
If you are planning on having only one 3D/4D ultrasound during your pregnancy, we would recommend scheduling your appointment to take place between the 24th and 32nd week of pregnancy. Even though this is the ideal time to obtain excellent images of your baby, realistic and life-like pictures can be obtained anytime after 22 weeks of pregnancy as well as and up until the 36th week of pregnancy. Many mothers choose to have more than one 3D/4D ultrasound during their pregnancy in order to see how much baby is growing and changing between their second and third trimesters. If you have your viewing before 24 weeks, babies have room to move around in the womb which makes for a fun video and you can see every part of your child. After 24 weeks, facial features are more developed. Some clients prefer both views and we offer a 10% discount on a second visit during the same pregnancy. Will I always receive clear, beautiful images of my baby?
Usually, but not always. We will do everything in our power to obtain the best possible images of your baby, but there are times when it may be difficult to see your baby's face (depending on the baby's position and the location of the placenta). If this happens for the duration of your session, one 15 minute free repeat scan will be offered to be scheduled within 1-2 weeks, in hopes of the baby moving into a more favorable position. Every baby scans differently, depending on its gestational age, position, amount of fluid, as well as the mother's condition and body type. We make no promises that your images will be similar to those you might have seen elsewhere or even from our clinic, or that we can always meet everyone's expectations. However, we do guarantee to make every effort to obtain the best possible images of whatever parts of the baby that can be seen. What can I do to help ensure wonderful images of my baby?
First, it is important to pay attention and to try to schedule your appointment during a time of day when your baby is usually active. Second, pay attention to whether your baby is more active after eating and drinking. 3D/4D Ultrasounds and gender determination ultrasounds are usually more successful and entertaining when a baby is awake. Please don't eat a heavy meal before your appointment or the baby may sleep during the ultrasound. Many babies seem to move around after Mommy drinks cold and/or fruity beverages so we recommend having a fruit smoothie or something to eat or drink with natural sugars in it on your way to your appointment, or around 10-15 minutes before your ultrasound session begins. Also, if you know that your baby is breach, you may want to postpone your appointment a week or two to increase the chance of your baby turning before your appointment in order to get the best possible images of your baby. It is extremely important that you try to drink as much water as possible the week before your ultrasound appointment. This can increase the amount of amniotic fluid around the baby, which can improve picture quality.May I bring my family and friends?
Yes! At Wonderfully Made we encourage our clients to invite family and friends to attend their elective 3D/4D ultrasound session. This is a joyous, memorable, and beautiful bonding experience, and we would love for you to be able to share it with your family and loved ones, too! We can accommodate up to 4 guests seated, with a 10 guest maximum. We also offer free LIVE online web-streaming of your ultrasound available at the time of your appointment. *Large or noisy groups may make your baby shy. Babies in the womb can hear and may turn away from noise or cover their face. In this event, a second appointment will not be scheduled. What if I need to cancel or reschedule my appointment?
We understand life happens! A 48 hour cancellation notice and 24 hour rescheduling notice is required to avoid being charged a NO SHOW FEE, which equals half of the package you purchased. If you are considered a NO SHOW, your deposit will be non-refundable. We have an ultrasound technician waiting to accommodate you for your ultrasound appointment, and this fee will help pay for costs associated with a client not showing up for their appointment. We understand that there are specific circumstances where it can be hard to contact us to cancel or reschedule, so each individual situation will determine if we will waive this NO SHOW fee. (Upon our discretion) Please call us at 912.200.5284 if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. Please make sure to leave us a voicemail message if we are unable to answer our phones. What if my baby isn't cooperating?
Sometimes baby is shy or sleeping and don't want to show us their face or gender. If this happens, and upon the ultrasound techs discretion, we will end your ultrasound early and offer you to come back within 2 weeks for a 15 minute rescan at no additional charge. We are usually pretty successful at being able to get great pictures the second time around, although some babies never cooperate for 3D/4D Ultrasound, and we make no guarantee that they will. Will insurance cover this 3D/4D ultrasound?
At this point, insurance does not cover the costs of these ultrasounds. Since this is an elective procedure and is not intended to be a replacement for your doctor ordered ultrasound, you will need to pay the cost of this ultrasound as an out of pocket expense. We accept cash, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and debit cards.Do you offer any discounts?
We offer a 10% discount on all packages to military and first responders, with valid ID. We also offer a 10% repeat customer discount during the same pregnancy. What is your refund policy?
All sales are final; including ultrasounds, gift cards and merchandise. For ultrasound services only: if images are unobtainable due to the baby’s position, one (1) complimentary ultrasound session is offered by the sonographer and must be scheduled with the following 2 weeks. For gift cards only: gift cards are not refundable.
